Today I rode through the city of Madisonville, Texas where I had breakfast. Here is a picture of the sign going into the city..
Then I continued riding to the city of Crockett. The city was named after Davy Crockett, a famous American explorer and soldier who had once passed through her. Anyhow, I got there around lunch time. I had lunch at the Moosehead Cafe. Here are some pictures that I took when I was there. Some of them show Davy Crockett:
While I was in Crockett I decided to go get my hair cut as my hair was longer than I wanted it to be. I sat there and talked to the two barbers and to a man getting his haircut. They asked me questions about my bicycle trip and we talked for awhile. At the end, when it was time for the man to leave because his haircut was over, he left a big tip for the barber (a tip just means extra money) and then he also paid for my haircut. I would like to say a big thank you to that man, if you are reading this. It made me feel happy to know that there are people out there who will help those they don’t even know. While I was getting my haircut I talked with one of the barbers, Tasha. Tasha was worried about her dog at home because there was a lot of rain, thunder, and lightning. She thought the dog might be scared being alone at home. Are you scared of storms? Who are the people you can talk to when you are scared of something, to help yourself feel better?
After I left the barber shop I had to stay under the canopy in front of it because it was still raining. I took this video of the rain. You can see the courthouse across the street:
I also took this picture of a bridge I went over today. Does it look like any rivers you know?
I stayed in Crockett for awhile because I wanted to make sure the rain was done falling before I rode the twenty six miles to my campground; I didn’t want to get all wet on the way there. On the way to the campground I rode through the Davy Crockett National Forest. A National Forest is a special kind of forest that the people in our country have decided to take care of, so that no one can just chop the trees down and mess up the forest. It’s a beautiful area with tall green trees. Here is where I camped, and also a picture of riding my bicycle through the forest on Texas State Road 21:
I hope you enjoy the rest of the pictures. Tomorrow I will be riding to Harleton, TX to visit my cousin Aimee and her family! I’m excited to be this close to people that I care about. I hope you got to spend time with the people you care about today.
