This morning I got an early start and rode my bicycle east on Highway 90 towards the town of Sanderson. The first town I got to was Alpine, and I got to see the beautiful lights in the city from a nearby hill:
I got to see a beautiful sunrise, and occasionally while the sun was still low in the sky, I would ride my bicycle near a hill and the sun would be behind the hill until I got to the other side. Of course, the sun isn’t really “moving” behind the hill, I’m the one who’s moving, and the sun just looks like it’s moving behind the hill. Here’s a picture of it just as it appears to be disappearing behind the hill:
Here is an old abandoned building I saw somewhere along the road. An abandoned building means that people don’t use the building anymore—they just left it and went somewhere else. How many years do you think it’s been since someone has used this building?
It was pretty easy riding today, as I was mostly going either on flat roads or slightly downhill. There were usually hills or mountains on each side of the road. Here is a cool hill that I saw on the way:
Here’s a funny sign somebody put on the bathroom:
I’m staying at a nice campground here in Sanderson, and I have an 88 mile ride to Comstock tomorrow. I might camp there or go to one of the parks that are just past it. I’ll need to get an early start. I’m thankful that there are showers here so I can get cleaned up in the morning. I also got some ice and wrapped it up in a blanket to make a “cooler” to help keep some of my drinks cold while I’m at the campsite (my bicycle is just too small to carry a cooler on it!)
I hope you all enjoy these pictures and that you are having a nice summer! Please feel free to send me any questions or comments you may have, jack D0T DISPENNETT at gma1L d0t c0m
