To donate to Ryves Youth Center (all money goes to them, none to me:) https://secure.qgiv.com/for/ridacrame/

Today was Monday, and it was very busy! At the beginning of the day I went through a park just north of Victoria, TX. Here are some pictures of the lake and the trees and such around it:

I was having some problems with one of my wheels today. The spokes (the little wire-looking things that connect the rim of the wheel to the hub in the middle) were loose, and some of them were broken. To put new spokes on, I had to take the freewheel off. The freewheel is the circle/cylinder thing on the back that has a lot of cogs on it for the chain to run on. While I was working on my bicycle (it took a long time) there was a man sitting in a van near me, watching. When I was done he talked to me and offered any money I might need for help. I told him I didn’t need any money but that he could give the money to Ryves Youth Center, which is where the kids are that I’m doing this ride for. He said he admired what I was doing. It was nice to talk to someone for a few minutes. Anyhow, here are two pictures of me using a wrench to take off the freewheel so I could put new spokes on:

I finished the day riding into Hallettsville. Here are some pictures I took along the way. Things have changed a lot from a week or two when I was in the desert, haven’t they? What differences do you notice? Are there more trees now or less trees now? Do things look more green now or more brown than they did in the desert? It looks like I’m in the forest a lot now, which is a lot of fun to see when you’ve been mostly in desert for a few weeks!
